I saw this coopers hawk land in a canal at the side of the road just after entering the Savannah NWR. We could not see it after landing and I drove very slowly to the spot where I thought it landed. I spotted it there yet it was obscured and I took a safety shot out the passenger's window, Then I slowly backed up to get a clean shot with these my favorites.

Nice immature hawk!

I’m at that refuge every week or so and I’ve yet to see a Cooper’s Hawk there. 😕

Thank you,

When we saw it flying my wife and I both thought it was a Harrier because of the way it flew over the marsh. It was not till I found it that we knew it was a hawk.

We were both impressed with the Savannah NWR for both variety of what we saw and how many birds and other creatures we saw there.

Like many places, it can be a crap shoot. We've been there when there were thousands of ducks on the ponds, and we've also been there and hardly seen anything. As you'd expect, winter is definitely better than summer and I think you picked an excellent time to visit.

I've had days where I went into one of our local preserves and met people leaving who said they did not see anything. I'd already taken a bunch of photos and continued to the entire day. Sometimes it's a difference in skill yet others it's just being in the right place at the right time.

Thank you,

Fuji cameras are known for there color film simulations. I used there Provia Standard film simulation.
