Is there any way to import Raw files into Capture one Pro 23 using the adjustments from the embedded JPG file, so that if i shot in Acros or Provia etc... it is shown when I start to edit.

Fujifilm X-T5 Raw and Capture one pro 23

thanks

It doesn't use the jpeg, but you can have C1 respect the film sim you chose in the raw file - it is their version of it, but is very accurate - the biggest differentiation will be in Acros where (and I am no tech) I believe there is noise reduction applied based on luma values or something similar that C1 can't do. But in the main it should meet your need. Go to the process curves and you can manually select after the fact, or tell it to match the camera setting

Just go to the curve setting in the tools and choose Auto, it should work

Also, the difference is not just the sims, but if i get the image right in camera, when i want to edit from the RAW i want to start at the image as i shot it. Saves from starting the editing from a flat image. I remember that before when i would import the pics they would be exposed much better

Below is a sample of the raw as imported, vs the jpg version embedded in the RAW using fast tone viewer.

Raw Version as imported in Capture one. I tried with adjustments and auto adjust selected on by one they still both import the same.

If I understand your question, the answer is ‘no’. Capture One takes the Raw file and generates its own JPEG preview. That preview is what you see as the “imported” image, and it contains whatever the Capture One engineers decided look “right” for the camera/lens you’re using. You can also create your own settings to apply as a default correction during import, but I wouldn’t recommend it unless you really know what you’re doing.

Are you aware that the camera produced JPEG applies manufacturer presets + whatever custom settings you can make in the camera’s menus? I’m not aware of any pp software that uses those settings if you start with Raw files. OTOH, if you imported the camera’s JPEG files, you’ll start where the camera left off—i.e. start with what you saw in the camera’s View function (or at least pretty close to it).

There are other factors, though. For example, your camera may have viewfinder brightness and rendition settings (like standard, punch, natural and so on) and those don’t transfer to the computer.

Also, since you’re using Fuji, which version of Capture One are you using? Pro or the freebie for Fuji. The freebie has pretty limited editing functions.

Last thing: is your computer monitor calibrated? That could make a world of difference.

Does this answer your question?

Maybe because the Fuji film simulations in C1 were developed by Fuji in conjunction with C1 they work differently to other camera makes in C1.

By default C1 automatically reads the sim used in the camera and generates the Raw file preview using that simulation.

To change to a different simulation (including choosing any of the normal C1 defaults) you need to go into the Base Characteristic tab and choose a different curve option. This should be auto by default, but will offer the full list of fuji and C1 options when you click on it.

It's more fully explained in this C1 support document:

You are looking for this menu section (if you don't see it, right click on any tool heading and add Base Characteristics)

the bit that will have your sim choices is the Curve drop down where mine says auto (as long as it was shot with a Fuji camera which this wasn't!)

Auto should use your sim as default or you can manually change after the fact.
