I like to carry the lens by its foot, but find it too small for comfortable transport

The new foot is shown mounted to the lens, with the OEM foot below. It's available from Amazon as https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09CG19867 and sold as compatible with the Sigma 150-600 Sports lens. It's also available on eBay. The longer mount is much more secure to hold, and has a hole for my Op/Tech harness connector, so I can hold the lens horizontally without the lens extending.

I can fit the camera, lens and hood into the JJC DLP-8II case if I align the camera body, foot and lens shade knob and place them against the straight side of the case. I put the front of the lens into a thin plastic bag for easy insertion and removal.

Good to see you fine tuning your m4/3 gear!
Only a couple of weeks and you've allready posted some very informative and helpful content. -Seems nothing has changed since the old times in the Pana forum.

Just in case no one has said it yet ... Welcome to the forum. Good to have you around!

Thank you for your kind welcome. I bought the OM1.2 + 150-600 as a "beyond the RX10iv" camera, and have been very impressed with it. The ability to use the lens shade knob as a quick sight for my left eye is a complete game changer, and I'm loving the Pre-capture feature. The 150-600 is sharp even at full zoom. Here are a few examples cropped, but all at 100%. From raw via DXO PL8 w/Deep Prime.

I see you got accustomed to the new gear qickly. Some fine shots there! Wish we had those Eagles here, very majestic!
While I do remember the RX10 as a very capable camera one does get quite a bit more in terms of reach and ISO performance from the gear you have now.

I do sometimes shoot my wife's OM1+300/4 with 2xTC. And I tuned that lens in a similar way you did for better carrying and aiming. An aiming aid does make a difference at 1200 FOV!

Looking forward to more shots from you to come! And Merry Xmas!

Very nice job on the 300/4. Fortunately I was able to avoid any metalworking because the aftermarket item was so well designed. I actually like using the knob to aim more than my red dot sight because I can keep my right eye against the EVF continuously.

Best for Xmas to you as well

Hi Sherman, Wow just amazing pictures. I am currently waiting for a sale to buy the OM 150-600 lens at a good price. But in the meantime, can you show me what these 2 female & 1 male optech connectors fit into (I assume matching connectors and a harness attached to the jjc dlp8ii case?) and how this all fits together when you are carrying it in the field. If possible a picture would be appreciated. Happy holidays Thanks Ron Stein

Ron,

Many thanks for the kind thoughts.

I use the Op-Tech elastic harness https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FU2AMG which is strong enough to hold the camera in place but has enough stretch for me to place it to my face.

The harness's female connector is on my right side, and the male on my left, so the parts are shown as if I'm standing at the bottom of the picture.

If I want to hang the camera vertically, I use the two connectors on the tripod ring, which places the foot against my chest. My problem with this arrangement is that I prefer the lens zoom lock in the "S" position so I can change focal length by sliding, and then the lens slides out to full zoom when it hangs vertically, which is a bit clumsy. If I change the position of the zoom lock, then I need to remember to change it whenever I shoot.

Ignore the piece at the end of the shoe - it's for a magnetic monopod mount, and so far, I've been able to handhold.

Here's how I hold the camera horizonally. The cable tie length at the left end of the shoe is a balance between short and tight (which puts a bit of extra strain on the lens when I'm holding it to zoom and shoot) and long/loose. I have the tripod ring rotated so there's minimum stretch when I'm shooting landscape - and I have added silver marks for fast adjustment.

The cable ties are too strong for me to break by hand, and the camera's always held by two if that's a worry for you.

Separately, the camera and lens fit in the case with the lens shade reversed as long as everything is aligned as shown.

I hope this is all clear. Please let me know if you need any additional information,

Happy Holidays to all
