Hi. I just received my new D-Lux 8 and I can't seem to remove the thread protection ring so I can mount the automatic lens hood. Any tips or tricks would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have the D-Lux 8 but not the auto lens cap.

Try the following video at about 1mins:43secs, it's the JJC version of the cap but the removal of the ring is the same, have to say still not very clear what the trick is though! I've tried removing mine but stopped as I was applying a reasonable amount of force!

Here is a still from the video it may help explain the removal method

Just get someone with a fair amount of strength to carefully turn counterclockwise. My BF did it for me, it did take some force........I was unable to do it.

I did get mine off but I had to use a soft rubber gripper that I normally use for jars. I does not turn very far to come off.

The first time you take it off it does take some effort, but after that it is very easy

It is a bayonet mount not a treaded one if that helps
D-Lux 7 must be different. Mine came off with a gentle twist.

Too late to be any benefit. :-|

It's just my educated opinion. Don't get bent out of shape.
