Help to find away to process the 8k video from z9

And on a 4K monitor, the top two resolutions are visually indistinguishable from one another during playback. Unless you have a slower internet connection (read: not fiber) then you get a clear, detailed slide show in downsampled 8k.

All the videos I have watched have been 1080P as max and I usually choose 720 because I just don't like the inconsistent results at high resolutions. Don't expect that will change for me because I am just too much of a penny pinching Scott to ever sign up for a 4K connections. Heck, that's money I could be spending on lenses.

My computer can play back an 8K video, though it sounds like a jet taking off while doing so :-D However my monitor is 4k and my internet stream has a narrow urethra and can barely manage 1080p. YouTube defaults to 720p here. Most people don't have an 8K monitor, or even the capability to stream in 4K reliably. I suspect that our internet connections can't make an 8k downsampled to 720p stream look any better than a 4k downsampled to 720p stream.

Youtube takes the highest quality stream you upload to it, and then creates multi-bitrate downsampled versions from it.

So, if you upload an 8K video, viewers like yourself will end up viewing the 720p stream, but others using higher end monitors and better internet end up viewing the 1080p,4K, 8K versions.

I think Youtube is optimized to NOT send you the 8K stream by default, if you are on a 4K display. Otherwise, it's a waste of bandwidth for everyone.

I think Youtube is optimized to NOT send you the 8K stream by default, if you are on a 4K display. Otherwise, it's a waste of bandwidth for everyone.

I still get 720p much of the time, with 1080 appearing sometimes. I only select 1440 or higher if I'd like to pause a lot. :-D
