Today I decide to clean some part of my X-T5. I did clean the display, the lens, then decide to clean the viewfinder. Looks like there was some "dirt", so I removed the rubber part and tried to clean it.

But looks like the "dirt" I spotted was not dirt. Please check the image and let me know what can be if you know and do I have to worry?

It looks like some missing coating. Any way, when I look throw the viewfinder I do not see any problems.

Regards!

Do you have an early X-T5? Bad coating is a known issue with them.

Hi!

I got it second hand from asgoodasnew, almost an year ago so I am not sure.

What is this coating for?

Regards!

The coating is to reduce glare caused by reflections.

I find it strange that the coating would be coming off on the edges and corners rather than the center. This is because when somone cleans the EVF they typically clean it quickly abasing the center. Possibly, the seller wanted to make the camera spotless and used some sort of a solvent when getting the more hidden dirt off the EVF. As it's not affecting your view, I would not worry about it. If it starts to become an issue, you will need to use a solvent, possibly rubbing alcohol or acetone to remove all of the coating.

Sorry to say that, but it's design fault of X-T5.
There were numerous reports of the same issue, like here:

I suggest, that if You have Your camera on warranty, send it back to Fujifilm service for replacing EVF glass/coating.

To me, it looks like the coating came off from the center (not the edges). You can see through the edges but the middle is reflective.

I'm curious to know what the OP used to clean the EVF with. I use ROR cleaner for my EVF whenever it has more spots than I'd like. I use a Q-tip with one drop of ROR and use light circular motions.

You may be correct. I use water and a Q-tip and easily clean mine.

Just for the record, my X-H2S is now showing this problem. I usually use a rocket blower to remove dust from the EVF but after using the camera in drizzle I had to wipe gently with a soft lens cloth.

A pain, but it's under warranty and is going in for a fix next week.

I never had this issue with my previous Fujis (X-T20 and X-H1), nor any of the other cameras I've owned over the years.

Same story for my X-H2.. But my camera is not on warranty anymore :(

Bad luck. If mine wasn't still in warranty I would have lived with it. Have to wonder what was done differently to cause the problem - corner cutting to save a few beans maybe?

Mine has warranty but I have to send it from Bulgaria to Germany. And because this is not a real stopper I will use it like this.
