G100D for nature walks and family photos?

The price of the GX80/85 has shot up so much. I'd look at a used GX9 or GX8. You could even get a used G90/95 or a G9. The latter two are larger bodies are DSLR style, but did you mention that you had a FZ300/330? Is so, this shouldn't be much of an issue. Just a thought.

Yes! I do have a Panasonic FZ300 which has become my grab and go camera.I really like it's versatility. As a senior citizen, I appreciate not having to carry a bag full of lens.

I don't make large size prints. So the 12 mp sensor in the FZ300 is not a problem. Also, the low pixel count allows larger pixel sites that helps the noise issues of a small sensor.. The lens lets in a good amount of light with f2.8 over the entire 25mm to 600mm range.

I do have a good flash for those times it is needed.

I agree. I had an FZ200. Sadly, it was stolen. I went all in with a M4/3 system. I did get a 1inch compact TZ202 for travel. I haven't printed anything in years. In fact, I have more pictures than walls to display them. So, most of my stull is for me, friends, and sharing.

--Don't worry about the slow flash Sync speed. If you have a flash gun set it to High Speed Sync, that will take the shutter speed up to 1/500th.If your flash wont do it , some Godox wont, I can recommend the Nissin i40 or the Nissin i60 they do it easily, I have the G100D and both those flashes and get a !/500th flash sync if I want it that high. To set HSS on the i40 you have to hold the power button on until the light by the selector flashes on and off all the time. The i60 is easier to set HSS as it has a dedicated setting.

I used to be indecisive but now I'm not so sure.

One more thing if you take the ISO down to LO you will get fill in shots on a sunny day albeit with a fast shutter speed

As a matter of interest I have the 12-32 +14-140 + PL12-60 F2.8. I find the 14-140 is very good on the G100D because I can get up close to the kids without being in their faces.

Is the 12-32mm lens any good for closeups? I like to shoot insects, plants and fungi on nature walks.
Surprisingly good, if not too tiny.

Ii is a fine lens for hiking for your uses - so small and light.

It appears that my earlier post didn't go through so here goes again. There's need to worry about the slow flash sync speed. I have a Nissin i40 and a Nissin i60, if I set them to HSS the G100D takes the Sync speed up to 1/500th if you want to go that fast. Some Godox flashes cant do it I'm told.

I told Marlene Heilema and Brian James the M43 Guy about it and it worked for both of them.

It did go though but you pot all the text in the place for your signature rather than in the body, so if a reader has the signature hidden (as it sounds like you do!) the post appears to be blank. Make sure you type above the double hyphen signature marker.

Thanks all for the extra information and sample photos. It's appreciated.
I've recently bought a Godox TT350o to use with my FZ330. It works better than I expected.
