Hi all

Is it possible to use an iPad to convert handwriting into digital text?

Does it do it natively or does it need an application?

I couldn't find any mention of this feature.

TIA

Regards

Nick

Thanks NIck

I just paid a visit to the local Apple Store. I was given an absolutely stunning demo with the 10th generation iPad.

With the specialized pads such as reMarkable, Bookeen, etc., you have a B/W interface and it produces a .pdf or a .txt file and you can do practically nothing else.

With the iPad you can write in Pages and therefore do whatever you need in terms of format, layout, editing, etc. You have a real text processor.

I was expecting a typically Apple price tag. Well, this iPad is the cheapest of the pads I saw! The drawback is that the stylus is extra and quite expensive. Yet I saw third party styluses that seem to work well.

It's a no-brainer.

My iPad is 10 years old, so I only had a vague idea what current models can do. Sounds great. Maybe time for me to buy a new one.

I never owned an iPad. My mother had one but I hardly ever laid my hands on it. What I know is only by hearsay. I was supposing it was outrageously expensive. The entry level models are quite affordable and competitive. However I don't feel the need to buy one for myself. I am quite comfortable writing on keyboard.

The handwriting capability is active across all applications. It's hardly documented yet it's stunning.

Yes, in fact I'm using A pen with my iPad to write this reply to you.. Personally it too is cumbersome. And a keyboard is much easier. But mamoreyb to work e with p get it ractice I can. ''

, well maybe you see the problem.

I am much more comfortable with a keyboard too. I tried to use Dictation and I found it useless. If I need to correct a couple of errors on each line I'd rather type.

It's for a friend who is aged and never caught up with computers. He is still stuck to handwriting. He types with 2 fingers. He has a project but dreaded he would have to have it typed by someone.
