I just received an e-mail from a Nikon Imaging Cloud account about the 1.01 to 1.02 firmware update which linked to the Japanese language version page for this

https://downloadcenter.nikonimglib.com/en/download/fw/541.html

I thought I'd give the online in-camera update a go and everything seems to be fine.

Just a FYI

Hey I'm slow - what can I say!

Saying that I did have a quick search on the forum and couldn't find a mention so I thought I'd mention it and how it didn't trash my camera :)

You probably do not live in China then, from the Z6iii Firmware Download page:

Changes from “C” Firmware Version 1.00 to 1.01
  • • Nikon Imaging Cloud service is now available in the Chinese Mainland.

I never even saw a mention of FW 1.01 :-|
Me neither, but 1.01 only impacted China, so I'm not sure there was even an email sent out for those outside of China. I'll have to double check my inbox.

I had to update using an SD card, but I signed up for the Imaging Cloud service so hopefully updates are pushed down automatically now. I thought SnapBridge would pop up a notification that an update was available, like my other cameras, but I got nothing.

I went out taking some snaps today, fired up snap bridge, connected and it mentioned the FW update so maybe a delay?

The order of the firmware appearing seemed to be (in my experience) - on the website, then a day or so later it showed in Imaging Cloud on-camera, then a couple days later, a notification in SnapBridge. Somewhere in-between, I also got an email notification via Imaging Cloud, about the update.

I updated via Imaging Cloud on-camera, and it worked perfectly.

Glad it worked!?
Semi-joking hence the :)

Still as it's a new process for updating the firmware there's always the chance of bugs hence providing a data-point.
