Sweet shots, Morris. If it isn't obvious, I have had a bit of an obsession with those little guys for quite some time now. Haven't done much in the way of in-flight or "blast off" shots and your great examples here might inspire me to possibly try that as well. Thanks for sharing... great work as always.
Thank you Jerry. I was thinking of you as I took the photos. 45 minutes with them displaying all sorts of behaviour. This was my best session with a little green heron in years and having two was a bonus.

I think you did well, a beautiful shot. Deer around here, bucks anyway, usually don't come out till there is very little light so noise reduction is needed.

You're most welcome. Most of my shots have been relatively static, as my "in flight" technique still needs some work. As it turns out, most of these little guys haven't been doing a lot of flying anyway when I've visited the lake where they hang out these days. I'm also pleasantly surprised by the number of these birds we've seen (around 3-4) each time we've visited the lake recently. In past years, we've been lucky to find one or two there.

Kiwi is the horse's name....

There numbers seem to be up in Oceanside as well with 5 or 6 compared to the usual pair. Other places I got are about the same yet it's great to see some population groath.

Super image.

#3 is my favorite.

Beautiful shot Bob. The cows make the photo.

Nicely done, Morris. The background has a kind of impressionist feel.

The Cary Tennis Classic is a pro-level challenger tournament held every summer in Cary, North Carolina. On August 16 I attended the semi-final match between David Goffin of Belgium (formerly world #7) and Roman Safiullin of Russia.

This was my first try at photographing a sporting event. I must say it was a lot of fun and a learning experience for this camera enthusiast.

A few comments on my X-H2S. When set to AF-C and face detection, the hit rate was excellent. Out of about 250 photos, only a few were out of focus. I set the shutter to MS and drive mode to 7 FPS. In hindsight, I should have set ES and a higher FPS given the velocity of the shots the pros were hitting. I used my XF 55-200mm because the use of focal lengths over 300mm is not allowed.

The temperature at courtside was about 92 degrees fahrenheit (33.3 celsius), and at the start of the match the sun shone directly on the court. After shooting for about an hour, the temperature warning on my camera came on, so I set power performance from boost to normal and let the camera rest in the shade under my seat for a bit. But all in all, the X-H2S was a pleasure to use.

There's a ghost town called Bodie that is now a California State Park, east of Yosemite, near Mono Lake. The park system maintains it in a state of arrested decay, and it is quite striking.

Most of the buildings you cannot enter but you can look into the windows and there are original furnishings, cans and bottles, etc. Taking pictures through the windows is a bit tricky as you get reflections off the glass. Sometimes though that led to an interesting effect, like in #3. Maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but I liked how it implied the desert was intruding into the dwelling.

If you are in the area I highly recommend a visit.

C&C always welcome

Great work Bob

Nice series 👍

Did you experience any difficulty bringing in a full sized digital camera with zoom lens?

Some professional sporting events won't allow spectators to carry them in. Only licensed/approved photographers who you often see in a group on the sidelines.

Thanks. Cameras are allowed at this tournament as long as the lens is no more than 300mm. Video recording is not allowed.

I was able to sit very close to the court so the 55-200mm was more than enough.
