Screen Max Brightness
R6II 517 cd/m² vs 929 cd/m² of R8

Also the R8 display area is centred, while the R6II display area is awkwardly offset towards the bottom when flipped out.

Is this right? What gives? I thought R6II was supposed to be at least as good as R8 if not better?

(Not looking for anyone trying to derail topic by saying they use the EVF)

May I know where you are getting these numbers from? I don't see this mentioned in Canon specs. The screen specs look identical in the manuals

Centered to what? As far as I see, the screens are anyway towards the corners of the bodies to accommodate controls on the right and top. Any offsetting decisions may be just due to body size differences

The spec issue depends on where your data is sourced from. It is also possible R8 got a better screen given it is a more recent body, things move forward in general.

The offset issue, I am not sure what better here means - what does it affect?

Please give the source of these figures, as they don’t seem to be available within the official specifications.

Indeed the official specs are the same for both LCDs. 3” and 1.62M dots, no mention of brightness.

I have both.

Brightness levels look identical, but not sure.

I prefer the screen on the R8 to that on the R6 (and thus presumably R6 II) for one thing - it's more conveniently located for touch and drag AF. So in that sense at least, yes, it's better.
