The EOS R5 Mark II is a worthy successor to the incredibly versatile EOS R5 bringing a host of new features that make this the most powerful EOS 5 series camera ever. It starts with a brand-new 45MP sensor that is back illuminated and stacked for blazingly fast read-out speeds that allow for a 30 fps electronic shutter, then builds on that with major focus improvements, increased video capabilities, and so much more.
  • Completely NEW Canon designed full-frame back-illuminated stacked CMOS 45MP sensor.
  • Fast sensor read-out speeds allow for up to 30 fps electronic shutter performance.
  • New focus system upgrades include eye control focus, and the ability to maintain focus on a subject even when obscured briefly.
  • Capture video and stills simultaneously with no interruption.
  • Action Priority uses data to interpret the scene and predict the main subject to lock focus on it in action scenarios.
  • People Priority Shooting for registering up to 10 people the camera can recognize and prioritze focus of.
  • Capture 8K RAW at 59.94/50.00 fps, and can Canon LOG 2.
  • Features the same 0.5-inch 5.76 million dot OLED EVF found in the EOS R3.
  • Video Menus now use Cinema EOS terminology.
  • Three optional battery grips are available to expand your capabilities.
I'm so excited about its capabilities!

5k $/£ imo, might be some sort of trade-in deal!

I am sold on the expected feature set (faster, better R5). But over and above, a few things caught my eye:
  • CLOG2 - that perhaps implies much improved dynamic range in video mode?
  • R3 stuff trickling down is good news
  • Seems R5c stuff is incorporated too, so perhaps no separate need for that. SRAW sounds interesting
  • Firmware v2.0.0 was mentioned? Really….?
Just need price and when can I get it in HK :)

$5.4k with 24-105.4 l. So, maybe 4.5k dollars.

So, I expect, £4.5k UK price, without lens, probably similar in £'s with 24-105.

Quite underwhelming in terms of the landscape photography (if you check the full spec list on canonrumors). No 16-bit raws etc. No huge benefits against the R5.

It'll probably be a fantastic camera for action.

There is already a comparison of the two new cameras:

Dr might be worse!
If the DR is slightly worse but not cooked (no noise reduction in the shadows in raw), then it'll be an advantage actually. Also if Canon improves on the hot pixel issue (compared to the R5).
Also, built-in GPS is still an unknown.

Anyway, I don't think I'm preordering it, unless there are some good surprises at the official reveal.

Can you give more information about the hot pixel issue?
In the R5, the hot pixel issue is well known if you shoot long exposures (starting from about 0.5 - 1s). If you shoot wildlife/birds primarily, it's unlikely you've had it.

Well based on the specs and $4300 price tag I think I’m gonna wait and try the R5 mk2 out before I decide if I need to own one or not.

I wonder what is different about the LP-E6P?
they said its higher capacity, perhaps contributing to the increased CIPA rating in specs that dpreview published

... and it's on pre-order now and it doesn't look like there are surprises.

does anybody have a link to the full manual by chance? :)

How much higher capacity would have been a better way to ask my question.
Seems no one is saying. Some searches showed it listed with same 2130mAh

However, interestingly, I find this

The LP-E6P battery, when compared to previous battery versions, features higher continuous power and two-times the amperage

This would make sense to bring it in line with power hungry features. Still, this itself cannot be enough to give a 50% higher CIPA rating. That would have to come from some real capacity increase + body efficiency
