Chip resetter (free software)

I tried the software last night.

The features look amazing: clean black and color cartridges separately; reset black and color cartridge chips separately, reset cleaning pad etc.

Unfortunately, the software didn't talk to my printer, it is not listed as a supported Epson printer.
I e-mailed the author to see if there is a work-around.

I also tried the program with my 785EPX (USB) and Windows 2000. The only thing that works is the nozzle check pattern. I believe the 785 uses the same print engine as the photo 890, which is supported. So, I wonder why there is no support for the 785?
Please post any reply received from the author.

Has anyone tried the shareware from Russia here?

I'm going to try resetting the carts in my 785EPX. Any experience
appreciated.

I can't help you with your 785, but I downloaded the software and tried it with my 820, and it works great. Now, I am going to take an empty cartridge, clean it out, put some alcohol and ammonia in it, and use it to clean the nozzles. I wonder if anybody knows where they sell the replacement absorption pads.

Why do you need to replace these? Why not just soak the pad with your ammonia solution, blot out the ink and reset using the SSC software. It has a button to reset the pad level. I don't see why this pad should ever be replaced if you can clean it.

I have cleaned mine once already after a bad problem with an entire batch of ink cartridges. I probably wasted over half of the ink running the nozzle check and cleaning cycles. The absorption pad has now started to shrivel up, so I thought replacement might be necessary.

Ken,

Have you tried the clean options? I have an Epson Stylus Photo 820, and the clean options (black, color, normal) did not work. I am running it through the USB with Windows XP.The nozzle check did work.

Thanks for any input.

The 785EX is the US designation for the Stylus Photo 895 - pick that instead :-)

Have you got any other printers installed? I couldn't get it to work until I removed my old printer in Windows.

In the help file, 1st is the russian than directly under that is the english version.

I assume that you are talking about any old Epson printers drivers. I do have a previous 820 Epson driver that I am having trouble removing. I am currently working on my 4th 820 in less than 1 year.
