Comparison of the Z 24-200 & Z 28-400?

Yup, pretty much reflects my thoughts and comments I’ve made previously. I think his shots illustrate the quality of the lens and its versatility nicely from a photographic standpoint. As I said, even f8 on the long side really isn’t much of a limitation except for those where having the greatest bokeh is a major factor.

As the author said, with a camera like the Z8 (which is what I use), even relatively high ISOs at f8 aren’t much of an issue. The effectiveness of the VR, which I’ve appreciated when shooting hand held videos at long focal lengths, was nicely shown in his indoor shots.

This review shows what can be done with this brilliant lens. People need to get past all those old musty prejudices against this type of lens. As we can see in the review linked above, brilliant work can be produced with this lens. Modern lens designed has moved forward in these last few years, and the new Z lens mount probably allows for much more lens design freedom.

You will get much better pictures on a hike or whilst travelling with this lens, rather than being an old fashioned, being the times Uncle Bob with his heavy bag full of 2.8 primes to cover the same range.
