flash recommendation

What other brands of flash will work ttl besides the fl-40?

Chuck
Chuck,

I use the Metz 54-MZ3 flash. The beauty of this flash is that it not only provides TTL with the E-xx, but can also be used with other cameras with a simple switch of modules (these can be purchased separately). It offers the off-camera capability also, so it can be used with a stroboframe or other camera support system. The quality of light provided by this flash is very good and the GN is higher than that of the FL-40. The price tag new is high, but I picked mine up on eBay for about half price.

I also use the Vivitar flashes (i.e., 285hv) which provide nice lighting, but they do not support TTL.

Good luck in your search.

Chuck,

I have a 5750 Promaster with a Nikon module. Here's my e-mail address if your interested in the flash. I use a FL-40 with my E-20 and all you'd have to do is pick up a Oly module.

[email protected]

Let me know if your interested

Cheers, Bill

I went with metz because of features, cost and the ability to use it on both my olympus and canon cameras! Just need to buy a module for different cameras instead of a whole new flash....

DY,

From what I've seen, the answer is YES to both of your questions. You would need the Oly Module to work with the E20 or E10 and you'd need a different one to work with the Nikon. I'm planning on using my Metz with my E-10's and a new Canon (at some point down the road).

The Oly Module that I use is the: SCA 3202

The Off-Camera Metz Module/Cable that I use is the: SCA 3008 A

(I've read here also that some use the Canon Off-Camera Cable 2 with their Metz 54).

I bought both of these modules at B&H Photo through their web site and as mentioned before, I purchased the flash on eBay.

Here is a link for the Metz 54-MZ3 with relation to the Nikon. I hope this helps!
