The manual says that this works in 2 modes - #1 one photo at a different EV value for each shutter press, and #2, all of the EV settings asked for while the shutter is held down.

But the most useful setting can't be found - after setting the number of steps, and the EV gap, a single shutter press will fire off the entire sequence of EV values. (And a delayed start would be useful, too.)

Does this feature exist? (I'm thinking eclipse photos)

I can't find a setting that will fire off the HDR sequence (with a delayed start) either.

IDK about that third option. I used #2 the last eclipse I shot, via a cable release to eliminate the need for a shutter delay to settle the tripod. Did 5-shot brackets in 1-stop increments, but was not in the path of totality and can't comment on changes for that time.

Also relied on the back display and not the EVF, allowing the tripod to be set lower.

Happy experimenting!

I have it set as a custom mode. Start in Aperture Priority. Go to SHOOTING MENU 2. First choice is bracketing. Chose ON and press the right arrow on the arrow pad. Choose AE Bracketing and press right arrow. You have several choices. I have mine set on 5 frames at 1 stop each (5f 1.0EV). This should set you up to take 5 shots automatically when you press the shutter. I also have the 2 second delay set. So when I press the shutter button once I get a 2 second delay then 5 shots with 1 stop difference between shots. I have the shot interval set at .5 seconds.

Thanks. I will give that a try.

I forgot a step. You need to set the timer at custom timer (Oc). When you chose Oc hit the info button to set the settings. You can set delay, number of shots and interval. I have mine set at 2 second delay, 5 shots and .5 second interval. This is what sets the automatic sequence. Once this is set along with the 5 shot bracketing, you should be getting a 2 second delay with 5 automatic shots at 1 stop difference between shots. Once you get it set up and working, I would suggest you save it as a custom mode. I have it set to C on the mode dial.
