(Sorry. A bit late with this thread. 😊 )

Have you been on a walkabout? A trip? Or just around your house? Or something else? Please post your recent photos here.

Just a few requirements:

1. Photos must be taken with M-series cameras.

2. Photos must be taken in March and April 2024.

3. Please try to include the EXIF info (or at least post some info about the body and lens).

4. Comments on photos are of course allowed, but try to keep a nice tone.

Not claiming an amazing shot - but this ladybird is tiny, only a few mm long.

I recently bought again the 28mm macro (near mint condition used from dealer at good price) - it's tiny, sharp, image stabilised and much more attractive proposition to the RF 24 and 35 semi-macros - and complement nicely my 60mm, 100mmL and sigma 180 macros.

Cropped but not downsized re centre frame resolution

Long live M in retirement - my 10-22, 28 macro, 32 and my most used 15-45 are keepers

I was out west of Houston scouting for spring wildflowers and ended up in Independence. This was where the first Baylor college was built in about 1845. Just about all that remains is the restored columns that once were at the entry to the building. There are some lovely old live oak trees, it just seemed to beg for infrared. These were taken with my M5 converted to 590 nm with the 11-22mm lens and a 720 nm filter.

M6 and Helios 44M-5 (58mm/2).

Two weeks ago in a very cold morning, after zodiacal light (time of morning prayer), I headed out for a walk towards and around the ponds to enjoy winter frost before everything melts out.

1. The first photo opportunity came along very soon at the first steps. Usually in those hours no soul wanders in the streets, especially in that bittering cold and streets were deeply quiet. Except this our neighborhood homeless beggar that was temporarily sheltered in that night. Aperture was at 4.0 and I forgot to open it, but with XD denoise of PhotoLab, really it is not important.

Great stuff and some cracking captures - nice flock of waxwing birds ;-)

See them occasionally in where I live in the UK too

Hi Kevin. Never seen a Waxwing yet. But I’m only 80, so plenty of time.

I heard a Hummingbird Hawk Moth once. That was not in the Midlands though. That was down in Tenby, about 25 years ago :-)

That shot from ‘notbelonghere’ I think is stunning.

Just getting out and enjoying the evening. All shot with my full spectrum M6 and 15-45mm lens with a 590nm filter.

Thank you Kevin. I now know they were winter guests (from northern Russian countries). And (I can not see how :-) ) they are placed between top 10 most beautiful birds in the world in many sites.

I guesstimate their number around 300. Their uninterrupted choir performance in that field was great!

Can I ask you another favour? It is a forensic identification. Six days ago this thing was ripping apart an alive mourning dove in our yard. It may come back for more. There are numerous killer birds and I think I know only fish eagle! What is the name of this creature? (Shot at 135mm, 73% crop).

Now isn’t that interesting. I actually much prefer the crop. Attention is focused. It works.

:-O

Neither are crop, first is 4000x4000 and the tall one was 4000x6000. (I posted the square one at 1440x1440 though, because my files go through tunnels with limited bandwidth to reach the forum and I think 1440p high is a sweet spot between size and quality for here.) Anyway, both are from genus Helianthus (their tree variant), unless I am very much mistaken :-) .

Although I'm largely using the R system now, I still use the M cameras for astrophotography. They're ideal for work with long telephotos and telescopes due to their small size and weight, great sensors and features, and for me the tilting screen of the M6ii and M200 are much easier to use for astro than the articulated screens of the R cameras.
