I would like to hear from people with experience of using an action cam on a motorcycle.

This summer I will be riding the Pamir Highway in Tajikistan. Expected temperatures that the camera will be exposed could be anywhere from -10 Celsius to the high 30's Celsius.

The camera will be attached to various points such as the helmet and at other times, on the motorcycle. So, the million-dollar question is which one should I buy?

GoPro versus DJi versus Insta 360.

I appreciate that there a hundreds of "what camera should I buy" threads already, just seeing if someone here has specific experience of use on a motorcycle. There are also many YouTube videos comparing the cameras, but which youtuber should I listen to?

And finally, I will also use the camera when scuba diving and when I am paragliding.

Looking forward to reading your replies.

Cheers.

I'm not a biker and don't really even use my cameras for any other action than getting out of bed (as some poster said in another thread:-D). I have the Ace Pro and a GoPro 9. Even though I would recommend the Ace Pro for the quality of the videos, I'm not so sure about the use as a (High) action camera. Where as the GoPro has a very trustworthy attachment, I wouldn't have the same trust in the Insta clip attachment. I don't know about the DJI , but it seems to have a similar magnetic clip as the Insta. I would be very worried to lose a camera that is not securely attached.

Depends on your terrain and likelihood of crashing. I ride a dirt bike so being able to replace the lens protector on my Hero is a useful feature. Sometimes I'll also put it in a dive case but with the open back door for sound.

But if you're riding on a highway or well-used dirt road then the odds of a fall are less likely.

For a helmet mount, I really like this one: https://www.dango-design.com/shop/gripper-mount/

Having the camera at chin height provides a great point of view. Videos from cameras mounted on top of the helmet or visor are usually boring to me because they don't include enough of the bike in the frame.
