Just want to post a 'beware' story...
If this isn't in the right forum, I'm OK if moderators need to move it.
I recently changed camera systems, and had one lens remaining.
I decided to go online and get some quotes for sales and Adorama gave me the best price.
The lens was in fantastic condition. I take good care of my gear. No marks, no issues, original packaging, etc. It was in perfect condition.
I receive a shipping label from Adorama and their online trade information tells me within 3 days of receipt I'll receive a call with a quote. They received the lens on 2/13/24 and by 2/16 I heard nothing. Let me say they're terribly difficult to get a hold of. I went to their online chat and was told by customer service that someone would be in touch.
On 2/20/24 I get an email from their trade department that my lens was received and someone would be in touch in 5-7 business days! Not what their website says, but OK, I'll be patient. Fast forward to 2/29/24, and still no contact. I reach out again.
By the end of the day on 2/29/24 I get a quote of $000.00. sent in my email. I responded to that email that I don't understand, and received a response from the rep that "It's been a long day and my caffeine levels are running low." and received a quote for significantly less than I was originally quoted.
When I questioned this, I was told the condition was "V" which is not even in their trade/used conditions. I asked for clarification and the reply on the condition was "Barrel appears well used and may include dings, scrapes/scratches, heavy brassing. Lens glass may have marks or haze that should not affect picture quality."
Now I'm really concerned. I sent back photos of the lens before I shipped it and told them their evaluation was inaccurate.
I did not receive any response.
Finally I called customer service and over the phone, the rep explained to me that you cannot call the trades department, and she would reach out to them by email (which has been happening every time I try to get someone there). I told her I'd like to either speak with a manager, or have them get involved. I have a feeling that they didn't even open the box and look inside. I also told her I feel like I'm being scammed at this point because this just isn't right.
As of today, 3/1/24, Adorama has had my lens in their posession for 18 days and I can't get this resolved.
I'll update this post with new developments.
