What kind of straps do people use mostly with X100 cameras ? I bought a semi hard case thats really fantastic for back packs etc but the neck strap that came with the camera is too bulky So I'm thinking to buy a wrist strap . What do you use most with this size of camera ?

I use this small OpTech wrist on all of my cameras, with one exception. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000H02B6O

Small cord loop attaches to the camera (I remove the metal clips that come on camera lugs), so it's easy to switch from a wrist strap to a sling strap. I generally do not like or use neck straps, but OpTech sells those as well (requires the quick release on both lugs).

On my tiny Panasonic GM5 camera, I use an OpTech finger cuff. Even a wrist strap seems overkill on that camera.

This company has some pretty nice neck and wrist straps that look terrific on the X100 series cameras (scroll down page):

Personally, I use the Peak Design Leash and Peak Design Cuff because I already had a few of them when I got the X100V. But I really like the leather Clever Supply straps which incorporate the Peak Design anchors.

OpTech is a good brand, but this wrist strap is "Recommended load: up to 2.5 lbs"

PeakDesign, their Cuff, which costs more, has ANCHORS CAN WITHSTAND OVER 200 LBS

A big difference, not that the X100's weight more than 2 pounds, but still...

If you're going for a wrist strap, the only thing I have used on my main cameras for over 10 years is a paradors lanyard knot wrist strap I make myself. I prefer a full strap for the X100 camera so I can carry it without a bag. Here's the wrist strap I've used for the last 10 years:

I consider a wrist strap to just be a safety measure against dropping the camera while I'm holding it by its grip, and I'm confident the OpTech system would be enough to stop a drop. Occasionally I will gently let my camera dangle from the wrist if I need both hands for something, but that's not often, and not for long. I doubt anyone walks around with a camera dangling on a wrist strap.

I do sometimes use their sling strap and let a bigger camera with lens dangle, but generally not while vigorously walking, etc. Then I'll hold the camera, or put it into a camera bag. The small size of and comfort of the OpTech system are what attracts me, and it works for my purposes.

I bought a wrist strap because I thought it was a good idea, and now I hate it. I'm going back to a neck strap.

Not on a X100 but generally, I use a Peak Design neck strap (Slide Lite - for the X100, the smaller Leash would be enough), their wrist strap (Cuff), and their clip (Capture) to mount it on a backpack strap. These products all work together and use the same anchor points.

I use wrist strap even with H2s+XF150-600, so unless you need 2 hands free i think it's enough, but it depends on your habits. I use shoulder strap for big rigs with 3kg lens, but don't like neck straps at all (for "hands free mode" I have PeakDesign capture or belt pouch (and I have backpack always with me) . When I used X-T20 with 35/1.4 I just put it in my army jacket pocket when I needed both hands or used second camera ;). I think X100x is suitable for bigger pockets, but if someone likes neck strap then ok.

BTW I've never used neck strap supplied with my Oly X-Z2, but wrist strap from previous camera, so I'm pretty sure I'd use wrist strap for X100 if I had it.

Cheers,

Artur

I use a Peak-Design wrist strap with my X100T

I have used a Gordy’s Camera sling for many years (back to the X100S). Every so often I decide it’s time to try a new strap. Inevitably, I end up back to the Gordy. Simple, lightweight, quiet and comfortable.

edit:

I should mention that rather than using the tripod attachment you see on the site, I use a very small carabiner attached to one of the camera strap attachment loops on the camera body. I don’t like blocking the tripod attachment and I also find the camera hangs better.

I use a wrist strap most often. A simple leather strap with a bone bead, made by my own hand.

I use a thin neck strap (PD Leash, or a paracord/leather strap I knotted) in situations where I might need the use of both hands on short notice.

I use a retractable tool tether when carrying the camera in a PD Capture Clip — both attached to my backpack strap.

i have the peak design micro clutch on the x100...bit fiddly but i found i can use the buttons on the right side and the dials without needing the other hand...also the thumb grip is no longer needed now...

My go to wrist strap is the Peak Design Cuff. You barely notice it's there when you're using your camera and it's so simple to slide it out of the strap when you want to store you camera in your pocket.
I agree, I use PD anchors and PD Cuff "alternatives" for 3 years now and I'm very happy.

Cheers,

Artur
