Spotted at Lytchett Bay, Dorset. My camera was still in its high-tech bread bag to protect it from rain when I spotted the deer, and I assumed it would bolt at the first rustle. But no, when it heard the bag, its head shot up and it walked towards me. I've since heard of people feeding Sika, and one animal that actually goes into someone's house. It hung around and posed for some time, only about 40' away.

Super detail. You might want to experiment with composition's that take advantage of white space

Thank you - I will do. My main limitation (apart from not having a very good eye for composition) is that my camera doesn't have face/eye detection for non-humans and by the time I've focused on the eye and got a nice composition, the subject has moved. I should lock focus and reposition more often, but my usual subjects are tiny bugs where this isn't an option as the DOF is tiny. I need to get a feel for what the DOF is for more distant subjects with long focal lengths at different apertures. In fact a smaller aperture might have been better for these photos.
