New R6M2 - Focus Lock Not Working

Just upgraded from R6 to the new R6M2. Learning all the new features and getting it set-up.

One strange issue that I am struggling with - I can't get the ONE SHOT focus lock to work - the most basic of features. I press in the shutter button half way to get focus, recompose, and the focus doesn't lock. I have done tons of googles and can't figure out what is going on.

I have firmeware 1.1.4 installed on the camera.

Any ideas?

Turn off any kind of subject tracking. Turn off Focus Preview.
