I hope this isn't a crazy question, but I'm thinking of getting the Tamron 28-200 for use on a 6700. I know its a full frame lens, but:

The image area will be focussed in the center of the lens, usually the sharpest area.

I don't shoot much wide angle so an equivalent 42mm-300mm is a perfect zoom range for me.

The lens is small and light enough to match well with the size and weight of the camera.

At $699 retail, I don't feel guilty about wasting some of the full frame's glass.

Does this makes sense to you?

Sure. About half of my lenses I use with the A6700 are full-frame lenses. If you are OK with the 42-300mm range then that's all that matters.

Based on your specific needs, I'd have to say that 28-200 f2.8/f5.6 Tamron would be a superb choice. I used one on a A7RV for several months and it was absurdly good even with the demanding 60mp sensor and full frame. Your application would be a piece of cake for corner to corner sharpness across it's entire range. Here's a example of it on that A7RV

Not crazy at all. I have often used my A6300 with the 28-200. Great for hikes / walks.

I've used my 28-200 a few times on my new A6700 and A6400. It worked well. For me though, going back to my first dslrs, 28mm isn't wide enough for me on aps-c, in general use, so it's on my A7Riv almost all the time. That and while it's not huge and heavy, it's not smamm.

I agree. I keep the 28-200 on my A7iv and the APSC lens 18-135mm on the A6700. The 18-135 is the better option on the A6700 due to its good quality and small size, but more importantly its useful range on an APSC camera.

I personally consider focal range 18-28mm much more usefull than 135-200mm with cropping (in case of using 18-135). Bu I assume, that you thought about that already.

Not agree, but it's also about personal feeling. For general use, I consider lenses above 400g as too heavy for small Sony apsc cameras.
