Been a big month for photography in the Docno household. The A7CR finally arrived (forgot to hide the packaging from the wife!) and the Brightin Star 28mm f2.8 manual pancake lens (Leica mount) arrived shortly before that. I think they make a handsome couple:

The EVF and LCD seem perfectly fine to me. It's only if I do an immediate side-by-side comparison that I notice a difference in EVF quality, but otherwise it's not an issue. I will say, however, the build quality of the A7IV seems nicer. The buttons on the A7CR are a little 'mushy' and there's less tactile feedback when using them. The Menu button in particular is a little soft, but fortunately that's not one I use a lot. I also haven't decided whether the silver version was a good idea... somehow, the finish makes it look like painted plastic (though it isn't). All that said, it's comfortable to hold and super light. And you have to love that sensor (it's not as much of a drag on my computer as I expected).
Unfortunately, it's been raining since the camera arrived, so the only sample images I have for the Brightin Star pancake lens were taken on my 'old' A7IV. It's an interesting brass-and-lacquer lens that's truly tiny (before you add the Leica mount adapter, which doubles the size). Quite affordable, but you pay the price in the corners.

My wife will inherit my A7IV, which put a big smile on her face. She's recently discovered an interest in (and talent for) photography and wants to learn more now. Unfortunately, I may have to also buy her a computer now... but one thing at a tiime. Anyway, there may be a new member of DPReview soon...!
