I know enough on CF, SD, but have no idea what is a good Micro SD Card which I should pick for my ZF should arrive today.

Delkin has been my choice on CF Express
And I use both Delkin and previously Sandisk Extreme Pro for SD

Any suggestions?

Prior to this year, I hadn't had any device that used Micro SD in like 15, 20 years, but within 2023, I have purchased three Micro SD cards for sound recorders. Currently I am sticking with SanDisk: 2 x 32G and 1 x 256G, and they are all fine so far. Western Digital purchased SanDisk back in 2016 so that they are not quite the same company as they were 10, 20 years ago, prior to 2016.

Otherwise, I would assume Delkin and ProGrade Micro SD are fine. I use their CFexpress cards but not SD or Micro SD.

Keep in mind that the Zf is only compatible with UHS-1 Micro SD. There is no point to purchase fast Micro SD cards for the Zf.

This is very helpful. Thank you!!

I got a Samsung 128gb Pro Plus V30 for about $20. I see it's on sale for $13 now.

It's for my GoPro 12, shooting at my select video speed, 4K 30.

I just tested the card on my fast PC, importing via microSD to USB adapter: I got a consistent 85MB/sec. That compares with about 290-300MB/sec transfer from my Sony XQD card reader. Not bad at all.

I have a simple Lexar 128GB Micro SD in mine. All is well.

I have had zero problems with Scandisk over the years or even since they have been bought out. For my z7ii I use a Sony CFE ExpressB and UHSII as the back up. For the ZF I bought a Scandisk 128gb 300mps it was on sale at B&H for about 100 bucks and a Scandisk 128gb UHSI 85mbs 13 bucks at B&H. I will likely just use the micro SD (they are so small and hard to handle) as primarily a back up or overflow to the UHSII card. I also use a similar Micro card for my Mavic Pro Drone and it works great.

I'd probably stick with Sandisk for SD cards myself. I've never used Delkin, although I have used some of the SAmsung Pro and Evo cards (never had issues). I've never had a Sandisk card fail (other than a failure caused by me but never due to defects).

My guess is that as long as you stick with a name-branded SD/micro SD card, you're probably fine. CFE and XQD cards seem to be a bit more specific in some cases with some cameras so brand/model may matter more there but this is irrelevant for the Zf.

Other than using the micro SD for a back up does anyone feel that they will be removing it regularly. I have to say it was not convenient to get that little sucker in the card slot. They really are micro LOL

Being like you..of the older persuasion, I will only remove it if it fails. You can download straight from the camera.

SanDisk used to reliable and very popular. But they have experience quality issues of late and should probably be avoided. Samsung would be a good choice now.

The link is to an external SSD. What does this have to do with micro SD cards? I have and continue to use SanDisk CFx-B for cameras and micro SD for audio recorders and drones, and this particular SSD for transporting (not working off of) files to freelance clients.
Only that the technology employed is pretty similar. I got burned by one of their SSDs that prematurely failed on me. That is enough incentive for me to switch brands. I haven't discarded my older SanDisk memory cards and continue to use them with no issues.

Great info, thank you. The only reason I'd consider buying a faster card is so I can get the images off faster. Otherwise, by the sounds of it, it won't really matter when shooting.

I didn't pay much attention to the Zf specs. Is there a reason they chose to go with SD/Micro SD instead of the CFexpress/SD combo that the Z6/Z6ii has?

I thought they are just going to straight up use the same card reader parts as the Z6ii for the Zf but somehow they made a nother card reader part with SD and micro SD.

All the Df, Zfc, and Zf retro cameras do not have a modern, proper grip, which usually houses the battery and memory cards. Nikon manages to squeeze the EN-EL15 onto the Zf, but there is no room even for a second, regular SD card, and Nikon doesn’t want to provide just one SD as they do with the Df and Zfc. The micro SD is a compromise.

Not enough physical space.

It is a compromise in providing dual card slots together with an EN-EL15c battery.

The dual card slots allow the pragmatic feasibility of “backup” or “overflow” arrangement.

Note that the SD card is UHS-II whereas the Micro SD card is UHS-I.

Personally, I am happy with one Sony TOUGH G UHS-II R:300 W:299 SD card.

Ah I see, makes sense. Would you say having the option of SD UHS-II and micro SD UHS-I is still better than just one CFexpress card? I heard the issue with overheating is often the card not fast enough and when you have dual card slots and especially with one only UHS-I, it will heat up quicker than UHS-II and CFexpress. I heard in general CFExpress overall is more reliable and long lasting compared to SD? Would you prefer 1 CFExpress or 2 card slots with SD/micro SD?

I don’t do video and I am not an income-earning professional photographer.

As I said, for my Zf, I am happy with one Sony TOUGH G UHS-II R:300 W:299 SD card.

On top of that, I am glad Nikon decided to use EN-EL15c and nothing of lesser capacity. Even so, I bought a second battery because I like to have the EVF at 2 notches above the default level. In the field, I only use the EVF while the LCD is turned inward. (The menus were used initially, during camera configuration, and I don’t “menu dive” in the field.)
