New drivers for the 2200 on OSX can be found at Versiontracker. They permit borderless printing, similar to the recent new drivers for the 960 and others. Have installed the driver and it seems to work ok. Haven't tried roll, borderless etc.

What I really want is to be able to use Matte Black ink on my 2200 with OSX. Nothing indicates whether this is possible. After attempting to install the matte black ink various ways, shutting down and restarting the printer and my computer, I have been unable to get the printer to print with matte black ink from my OSX Mac.

Any thoughts on whether this driver was supposed to provide support for Matte Black ink and, if so, how will be appreciated. The only documentation provided is the same instruction pdf sheet for borderless printing that came with the 960 drivers. The screen shots even use the 960 print screen for illustration.

I use matte black and photo black on my printer with out problem. After I change the matte or photo black cartridge I just delete the printer and re add it and it prints fine.

Just downloaded the new driver. The print will finally center on the page in OS X. I could on acheive this on OS 9 previously.

I've used minimum borders with success. It's funny how VersionTracker has the driver, but it is not at the Epson web site. This was the case with the 1280 driver that was released a few weeks ago: VT beat Epson by a day or two.

Perhaps when Epson posts the new driver it will answer your questions.

Can someone using the new version 1.6 have a careful look at a few prints made on the 2880 dpi setting? Compare them with a 1440 dpi image or one made on the old driver.

The recently released verion 1.6 for the 2100 has a problem with strange blotchy red and yellows in parts of the image at the 2880 setting only. Particularly noticeable in skin tones. Overall colour is correct. Several 2100 users have reported it. and I'm very curious to know if the same is true of the new 2200 driver. (2100 is same printer as 2200 for those not aware).

Thanks for the tip. I will give this a try. The new driver also permits custom paper sizes, another feature previously denied us OSX users. I use A5 (half A4) for my small prints as I like the aspect ratio. Now, no more need to adjust from center to get it right.

I have tried your suggestion, with some extra steps, as follows:

1. Change the cartridge to MK from PK, with printer and computer running.

2. Delete the 2200 from print center and then immediately reinstall it in print center.
3. Shut down the computer.
4. Shut down and restart the printer.
5. Restart the computer.

When I tried only steps 1 and 2 above, the MK profiles appeared in Print with Preview (PS), but appeared in garbled fashion in media selection in the Print dialogue box and caused PS to crash. Only when I did steps 3, 4 and 5 did the MK selections appear in the media selection box. Everything is now working normally.

The good news is that I can now print with the matte black ink from my OSX Mac. Many thanks for your help. Now, I must see if the output I get is as good as those who have praised this printer says it should be. Without matte black, I have been sorely disappointed.
