How compatible are lenses from Sigma and Tamron in supporting the features of the A7r5? While I am particularly interested in the stabilization compatibility of the Sigma 14-24 f2.8 I'd like to hear both positive and negative comments on any and all of the lenses you have used. Thanks!

So far there are only 5 Sony FE lenses that support Image Stabilization with Body-Lens Coordinated Control on the A7RV, A7CR, A7C2, and ZV-E1:
  • SEL24105G
  • SEL70200GM2
  • SEL70200G2
  • SEL100400GM
  • SEL200600G
One issue I've seen with some Tamron lenses is inaccurate distance reporting. Accurate distance information is required to stabilize shift movement. I haven't checked the accuracy of many other lenses. I did have an A-mount Sigma lens that gave nearly worthless distance info.

I have the native Sigma 100-400 that physically accepts the Sony FE 1.4X teleconverter, but the lens firmware doesn't seem to handle the electronic communication properly. The combination does partially work.

That’s an interesting list. I wonder what makes those the ones that work.

No third party lens is expected to work (not supported) with a tc on E mount.

The main limitations have already been mentioned (stabilization and TCs), on higher end bodies you'd be capped at ~15fps too, and you won't get breathing compensation either. Otherwise they work pretty well, tbh it's not any worse than some of the 1st party cross brand compatibility on M4/3, both mounts are far more "open" than anything else.
