After downloading and installing the HEVC video extensions from the Microsoft store I still have a problem with my recently purchased Panasonic S5M2.

To my horror, I see that 4:2:2 footage is not playing properly on my Windows PC. That means I can't play it properly in VLC and can import it into Davinci Resolve but also run into playback problems there.

How can I solve this?

I have an AMD Ryzen 5 1600X with 16GB of internal memory as CPU and a GTX 1080 as GPU with 8GB of RAM. I use Windows 10 22H2 and have always updated the graphics driver (is now version 537.13).

Solution
Use the Open Source mpv player instead of VLC, it has much better support for 4:2:2 codecs.

The problem might be that the GTX1080 has no native support for h265. In Resolve, you could work with proxies instead, or reduced playback quality.

Hi mcsantin,

I dl mpv and the clips are viewable now ;-)

A GTX 1080 supports h265 but inly in 4:2:0 mode.

Thanks!
