Just the other day, I tested the Tamron SP 28-75mm on my A7 II. The icon for SteadyShot appears normally, but stabilization doesn't engage in photo mode. It works fine in video for some reason. Was this a fluke or does the adapter not support IBIS for stills?

Should works for still as well. I have the Xuerebs which looks like made by the same OEM and IBIS works for the two EF lenses I have.

I don't have experience with your combination but as far as i know Canon EF lens stabilisation is the one thing that can be relied to work well with any lens so equipped and stabilised and all electronic adapters. There are many other performance requisites that are more variable.

I just wonder if the Tamron Steady Shot protocol might be different from the well known Canon EOS lens IS in some way.

Have you a Canon EF stabilised lens to cross check the stabilisation routine?

I have Viltrox adapters, but not for EF-E/FE, and they all seem to support Canon EF lens stabilisation as expected.

Hi, I happen to have some notes from using various adapters, albeit with a different lens - Canon 70-200mm f/4 IS I

Sigma MC-11
- IBIS cannot be enabled even if OIS disabled

Yongnuo EF-E II
- IBIS can always be enabled
- M mode may be useful with macro lenses as it provides continuous DoF preview in Aperture Priority

Metabones EF-E (Mark V)
- IBIS can only be enabled if OIS disabled

Altson EF-SE
- IBIS on if OIS off

Viltrox EF-E IV
- IBIS can always be enabled

I think I jumped on the wrong tram. I was thinking lens-IS not camera body IBIS.

I doubt if both of these will act together - it would have to be one or 'tother.
