Is it good for its price?

Any alternative?

I'm looking for a wide angle lens for indoor shooting.

Thanks

That's a mather of taste. I like my Lumix 35 1.8. Others prefer the Sigma 35 f2.

I choose the Lumix because of good weather sealing and focus breathing control (good for video).

The Sigma is known to be a tiny bit sharper.

What exactly are you shooting?

I love my Sigma 35/2 as well. Fantastic lens.

My favorite L mount 35mm lens is Leica sl 35mm f2 apo, second is Lumix 35mm f1.8.

Lumix 35 is very good for video shooting.

The 35mm focal is a bit frustrating to me. I like the 20 of the 20-60
Why frustrating ?
Some love it, some hate it. Some need to get use to it before they love it.

It is the same as for the 50mm focal length.

I had to get used to the 35 before I started to like it, those first moments are a bit frustrating. Now I like the 35mm focal length. And I love the view of the 90mm focal length.

Another vote for the Sigma. Apart form the great image quality I'm a sucker for solid build quality and a real aperture ring, so those things made the Sigma an easy choice.

I haven't heard anything bad about the Lumix though, and it is a tiny bit faster.

I was going to get the Sigma 35/2 but was swayed by a promotion to get the LUMIX. At f4 I didn’t think it was any better than the 24-105. It seems to be optimised for video. I traded mine in for a Sigma 35/1.4 DG DN which is different league.

Curious, in what way would you say the Lumix 35 is optimized for video?

My first question would be how wide an angle do you need? 35mm is not what I would call wide. In my view even 28mm is only getting there, 24 down to 18 is what I see as wide.

I have an S5 with the 20-60mm, the 20mm end is good for many things where I can't step further away from a reasonably large object.

All depends on your eye and how you like things to look.

Just noticed that I may be a little late to this particular party. Hope you have found a lens you like.

Because they hardly suffer from focus breathing and linear focussing is really good

True.

Also they mesh well with the other Lumix prime lenses foe video (same size filters and same center of gravity so easy to swap out on a gimbal without having to rebalance).

Although if shooting 4K 60p the S-series cameras crop in to aps-c for, meaning it will be more like a 50mm than a 35mm.

After I bought my first Sigma Art (20 F1.4) prime lens a few days ago I probably won‘t never pick up any other lens type. Quality is indeed in another league.

Sigma lenses are much better built than Lumix ones but the Lumixes seem to work better in AF-C, with fewer missed-focus shots in my experience. I don't do video but if you use AF in video then I imagine that's very useful.
