Yesterday I failed to notice that the SD9 was set to ISO 400.

Opening the result in FastStone Viewer revealed my folly:

There it is - the famous Foveon blotching in all it's glory!

It should be remembered that FastStone does a straight conversion with no fancy tricks, unlike SPP ...

Ted,

Do a SPP version for comparison.

Sorry, S. files have already gone off the CF card.

Another time, perhaps.

How times change. We can chuckle about this now but I remember people being banned, in the past, for posting images such as this. They were considered by the moderators to be "brand bashing".

Meanwhile, on "the other" forum with it's high tolerance of trolls, the atmosphere has become less than perfect - making me glad that this forum will be continuing with good old Rick in charge.

And meanwhile, the last post on the 'Sigma Stuff' forum there was two days ago ...

I've only looked in there a few times and wasn't terribly impressed.

It's getting worse, have another look and read the idiotic rantings of @DonaldB ... donald-bashing has become the site's favorite sport.

If you're interested in photography ... fergit it!

I'll do that.

Sounds more like entertainment.

Karl,

the DPR Forum has some nice work by Serge with the SDQuattro H, also couple other photographers who don't post here. Same on Facebook Sigma Users Group, some nice work, especially unusual stark florals by several photographers not known here, as well as Lea Tippett and some other names we know are on Facebook as well as Sigma company posts. Other than that, I don't know where to look for Sigma work. Focal world is all a jumble of different cameras, often I don't know what I'm looking at. I admit I do categorize by cameras, lenses, and EXIFs, LOL. Also I see very little work around by the Canon 5DS, which I adopted last summer in addition to all my original Sigmas and Canon 5DII which I've had for years. I find some 5DS work via flickr.

Best regards, Sandy Fleischmann on flickr

Thank you, Sandy.

I don't know if you already do this Sandy, but I searck Flickr for specific cameras, like "SD1 Merrill" or "DP2 Quattro" in order to find many sample images from various cameras.

Yeah, some of the photos will be of that camera, rather than from that camera, but there seem to be lots of results.

I used to use pixelpeeper.com, but there seems to be something else at that domain now.

😞

Yes, Scott, I use Flickr to find specific cameras and lenses. I use Flickr groups rather than searching daily. The groups I belong to pop up on my Flickr feed when I access Flickr. I put most of my photos in appropriate groups (for cameras and specific lenses) as well as regional groups (like Southwest or Arizona for example) and parks, like Shenandoah. The group pixel-peeper is fun for high detail photos. Flickr is quite useful aside from being a repository website for photos. I've started my "Hawaii 2023" album on my Flickr page.
