How would you compare lens grx 2 and 3

There is no GRX camera.

There is a GXR and a GRiiiX.
And a GR 2 and a GR 3.

And a GR Digital 2 and a GR Digital 3 🙂
Which camera are you asking about.
I’m going to guess GR/GR2 vs GR3. In which case:

IMO the GR3 lens is a bit sharper (or maybe the sensor just makes it seem so) but has more vignetting (and the same is true of the GR3x). The in-camera correction fixes it.

Both lenses have distortion which isn’t corrected in the camera, but the Lightroom lens profile for the raw file fixes it for both cameras.

That’s just going on my experience. I don’t shoot test charts. And I’ve never really found any GR lens gives much cause for complaint; it’s only now that I realise I’ve used all the variations of the 28: the GR1, the GRD1/2, the GRD3/4, the GXR A12, the GR/GR2 and the GR3. Phew! (Still got three of them…)

Basically, they’re all just fine. (Unless there’s some obscure use case I’ve not encountered that shows up some flaw.) Pick the one that has the features, ergonomics and price that suit you.

Ah yes, for a camera series that is legendary, they certainly have a strange lineage of model names...

And yes, I agree with your main point - that it's pretty well established that all the GR lenses are great performers. So don't worry about the lens.
