Need Advice on Videography

Hello,

I hope this isn’t the wrong place to post this, but I need some advice from any videographers on here. . I used to primarily shoot stills as a hobby, using an OMD EM5 III with an Olympus 25mm F1.8 and an Olympus 45mm f1.8. When I was shooting stills the focus by wire system didn’t really bother me, but it’s proving difficult to pull focus consistently using the focus by wire system.
Do you guys have any advice on where to start?

I’d like to start by doing some short documentary stuff and maybe some slice-of-life stuff. Someday I’d like to direct big movies, but I’m just starting now.

what gear would you recommend to get good audio?

should I try to save up for a cinema camera? If so, which one?

what lenses should I be looking for? Ideally I’d like to stay in the M43 system becuase I already own some lenses for it, but I’m open to advice. Ideally I kinda want a wide, medium, and long set of prime lenses to compensate for the small sensor. Again, though if that’s a bad idea for video please put me in the right direction.

lastly some of my influences are Tony Scott, Spielberg, Hayao Miyazaki, and Roger Eggers among others.

Thank you for your time in advance.

For video, Panasonic might be ahead of Olympus.

If you wish to go deep into video, might consider the GH series. AFAIK the age GH4 might be a cheap option for pro class video.

I am not good on video, but have you consider an adapted MF lens?

I also wish this can keep this thread on top of the forum such that some video expert might come by and step in.

The video on the EM5.3 is pretty good right out of camera, if you do not care to color correct or do much editing. Autofocus is good, colors are good, stabilization is fantastic. You do need an external audio recorder because the EM5.3 audio is a bit hissy.

So I do not understand what you are after? Do you want to shoot RAW video? codecs or frame rates not available with you EM5.3? Can you give more detail on why you are having trouble with focus by wire (are you trying to manually focus?)?
