What's the best plate to get that won't interfere with the LCD screen? If possible, the L-Plate should be able to remove the side plate to allow the LCD screen to swivel.

The XT5 screen doesn't swivel or isn't fully articulated. That said Small Rig is the best IMHO. I have it for the XT4 it has a few minor restrictions but still articulates. I can only see the XT5 being much better. Can't comment on the H series but suspect the are well designed too.

What are the restrictions? Can the side plate be removed?

+1 Smallrig for the H2. A decent L plate with enough metal to be worth having will always make some actions awkward. The screen folds out fully when not tilted but tilt is restricted more and more the further out the screen is folded.

Yes, the vertical bit can be removed and mine came with an Allen key for that.

I couldn't find it on Smallrig but Google gets this:

I've not tried it but I imagine so.

I have been really satisfied with my RRS L-plate on my X-T4. They are way expensive but substantial build quality and well thought out. Doesn't interfere with the articulating display. Cool part about it, the allen wrench needed to adjust it is built in.

Look good. I suspect it is the type of screen not the maker of the bracket that determine if it "works". Small righ send a built in Allen key and screwdriver BTW.

I have an universal chinese dirty cheap L plate.

it simply works. you can even mount it reversed (with the vertical bracket on lcd side or on Card side) and if needed you can unscrew the vertical bracket.

It's interesting that both the Smallrig and RRS plates have an integrated hand grip. I would have preferred that it was optional.

I've got one of these:

I like it.

The advantage of specific plates I've used over generics is that they lock in place and don't rely only on friction to prevent rotation. If you've found a generic that overcomes this I'm ready to buy.

My smallrig for H2 doesn't, the T2 one does.

yes .

but at the end of the day they works, are much cheaper, i can mount reversed (and that's a big plus)if i dont like having che cables hit the vertical plate, and you dont need to change the bracket at each camera.

a have a smallrig dedicated cage for xh2/s and its nice to have the extra fixation point on the base plate.

but for a l-plate i am fine with a generic one.

recently insaw on AliExpress done dedicated xh2/s L bracket with a small loft on the front face, to eliminate any riskn of twist at 20 dollars

My need is for portrait with the 80mm macro so the extra fixation to prevent rotation is really welcome.

The problem right now for owners of the X-H2 and X-H2S is that RRS does not offer anything for them. Worse is that from my own personal correspondence with them, they have no plans to offer anything in the future either.

Other than the SmallRig cage, I can't get anything for my X-H2S with battery grip. There are no L plates available with a custom fit like I have used previously with my X-T2 and Canon DSLRs in the past.
