I have a Panasonic DMC TZ7 I use it mostly Christmas, easter and big events I want to take videos and a few pictures. So today I took it down to use it and when I looked back my pictures from xmas 2022 are there but the videos all say "this motion image cannot be played" pictures and videos from all previous years are on it too and will play fine, the new video I took today plays fine but what has happened the videos from xmas 2022 why will they not play or be recognised?

It is odd that a group from a certain period won't play. If it was only one I would suggest corruption of that file.

Have you copied them from your camera to PC? If not I would do so and check if they will work in other video players.

Before everything, I would never leave photo or video on SD card as long storage. I would download them onto my computer or smartphone regularly, e.g. by the end of the day. In fact on regular interval I would also off load the files to my computer for permanent backup. I won't leave files ONLY on my phone forever without backing up.

I shall take out the SD card and plug it into a card reader either connects to computer or phone. I shall use the file manager of the operating system (e.g. Windows Explorer for Windows based computer or File Manager of Android phone), copy and paste the video file to the hard disk of computer or the internal storage/SD card of phone.

Look at the particular file to see could you computer or phone play it back.

I suspected that you might have not really taken the said video at that time, or the file would be damaged for whatsoever reason.
