Capital from a new owner with similar visions to the old owners is usually a very welcome thing. Certainly better than Olympus being bankrupt.Thought so but did not want to assume anything. Still folks have complained about the sale. Looks like a win for Olympus customers past and future. And, I would expect customer service should be fine. Now Amazon taking over Whole Foods is another story :-(That is really the only thing that makes sense. Buying the right to release new gear only and then changing the name makes little sense. My understanding is that they got EVERYTHING related to Olympus camera division. Patents and service liabilities included. How well they honor that remains to be seen. Will the new owner of Olympus provide service for models made before the purchase? Did they acquire everything Olympus had or just the right to make new gear with the tech going forward? If the transition is pretty seamless, this could be seen as the best of all possible outcomes for Olympus customers. Otherwise, bankruptcy and the end of everything Olympus was the likely outcome. Better than what befell Kodak users.
