I'm going on a trip in June with friends. I'm hoping it's going to present photo ops as some of the things my friends want to do like Osbourne House will bore me so will go off with the camera for a few hours... Quarr Abbey looks like the best option at the moment as I'm not a landscape photographer

Cheers!

For non-UK forum members, the Isle of Wight is an island off the south coat of England.

Have you tried Googling "Island of Wight" images? Flickr is another alternative. Googling "Quarr Abbey images" is another option.

You can do a Forum search on "Isle of Wight" in the title. That will give you quite a lot of information. Ideally you probably want somebody who lives on the Isle of Wight and is familiar with travel times around the island. The forum search should throw up somebody. Try sending them a personal message.

If you are a Brit, have you thought about trying to get some red squirrel shots? The Isle of Wight is one of the few places in England where you can still see red squirrels.

I haven't been to the Isle of Wight in years, but Carisbrooke Castle is a still fairly impressive ruin. Sorry, I don't have any pictures, but there should be plenty on the web. If you have all day and were feeling adventurous, you might be able to make it over and back as foot passenger on the ferry to Portsmouth Historic Shipyard and HMS Victory.

Still no pictures but I can offer a few suggestions:-

If you are from England you might find Red Squirrels of interest as they hold out on the island unlike much of England. They could be anywhere but google got suggested locations including Alverston Mead Reserve Complex.

Don't know when you are going but the IoW has a steam railway. It runs from late March to October

There's the Needles out west of Freshwater but photography from the land is not so good I think. Worth a boat trip maybe.

Finally if you like transport there is the rare sight of commercial hovercraft operating to and from the mainland. I think it is the only such device in the world.

Hi all. Of course I know how to use google and search for photos on line.

I wanted to see some work from my peers at DPR for inspiration.

Show em if you've got em!
