On my old Olympus I was able to assign pro capture (pre burst) to a custom setting. Fuji allows this too. The R7 doesn't allow it, unfortunately...any work around? Assign to a button?

It's a pain having to go to the menu each time.

I have it assigned to a button on my R7. I use the DOF preview button for it. If I press that button, I then press the joystick in to select it, flip it down to change from disable to enable (or up, if I'm cancelling it), and press it in to select that setting. The whole thing takes less than one second, and I can do it without moving my eye from the viewfinder. I find this much more convenient than assigning it to a custom setting (I didn't know you couldn't do that).

You can indeed assign it to a button to take you directly to the Menu setting but because there are two different settings, each with Enable and Disable options the button can’t put the camera directly into a specific shooting mode - you still need to make a selection

On my R5 I reassigned the M.Fn button so that when pressed it cycles through the Custom Modes, C1 to C3. Does the R7 have that facility?

No, with Canon, only cameras without a printed mode dial have that option. That currently includes the R3, R5 and original R.
