Shocking Battery Life - GR III

The one thing you cannot do with the gr3 is walk around with the camera switched on. The start-up time is shockingly quick, so there’s really no need to leave it on between shots.
depends on the shooting style you practice; for me having camera on all the time is a must because I photograph situations that needs to be captured asap or opportunity is gone

like I stated many times before GRIII is a serious step back in terms of battery life because with previous DB65 you had 2.5 h (bad but not terrible) and now only 1.5 h so I need to have more batteries with me which adds to costs and weight

Well guys, I have 5 batteries now. One Ricoh and four aftermarket. They all perform the same so absolutely no point in spending so much for a Ricoh. Two batteries came with a charger which can charge a single battery at a time, and the other two batteries also came with a charger which can charge two batteries simultaneously. So I can charge four batteries together including using the camera to charge one of them. All four batteries including two chargers cost less than the price of a single Ricoh battery!

I've been turning the camera off between most shots because you're right, the start up and readiness for a shot is instant. I've been getting close to about 2 hours per battery. So now I can pretty much get through a 10 hour day of shooting give or take, if I decided to shoot for that long.

I take 5 extras with me when I street shoot. I am out from about 10am to 3pm. I usually end of using 3 batteries. I am much better now about checking the battery life so I don' miss that "crucial" shot
