I've used FSV for a while for quick browsing or culling, but little else. My keywording and metadata edits are done in Photo Mechanic.

I was just using it to move some files around that I have keyworded in PM and then I noticed all exif data was gone. In looking at the files, I saw that the xmp file was not moved with the raw file.

I tried using the built-in Move function but with the same result.

Is there a setting I am missing? The search function in their help file isn't very good and the docs are several versions out of date.

FTR, XnView MP supports sidecar files (XMP, etc.) and has configurations for including them in file operations. I've not messed with the config but the XnView forums are pretty good for getting help if needed.

I've found XnViewMP and FastStone (which I've used for year) to be pretty much neck and neck functionally. Lately I've been using XnView MP more for a couple of minor reasons.

Thanks, I checked them out a year or so ago, don't remember why I settled on Faststone.

I use FSV as my primary photo viewer/manager. But I like XnViewMP, just not used to it, been using FSV for more than 10 yrs., plus my wife uses FSV as well, so need to stick with it to keep her happy. However, I have XnViewMP set up in the FSV tools menu so that I can send an image directly. The main reason, for now, is that I often like to view the exiftool info and XnViewMP includes that in the main viewing window.
