I bought an Olympus mju ZOOM 115 today at a thrift store, however it is not turning on. I bought a new battery and installed it, however it still does not turn on. After some research, I cleaned the battery terminals but this has not worked either.

Does anyone have any other suggestion? The original battery that came with the camera is on the left of the two pictured. I added a dummy roll of film too - however this didn't help either.

Thanks!

The power switch for this is in the clamshell cover. When it hits full open, it should turn the camera on. If it doesn't the switch is likely bad or gummed up.

You might be out of luck on this one, as long as you're SURE the battery is good.

Bring a bag of batteries to thrift shops when you're looking for cameras, or else it is a huge gamble.

There are lots of videos on-line on how to fix various Mju’s, some of which involve opening up the case and cleaning some internal contacts. You can easily find these using a search engine, including for the 115, so I won’t repeat them here. The only thing I would add is to be very careful of the flash capacitor if you are opening up the case.

please check if lens rubber seal is still on barrel, otherwise, zoom over 38mm will light leak on film.
