I haven't used Panasonic, but I have used Sigma 16--28mm on Sony. I wasn't impressed with IQ. It is sharp, but images seem kind of bland. Now that is partly on Sony, sometimes things are better on L mount.

So just looking to see if anyone here has experience with both and what their thoughts are on these, individually or in comparison to each other.

Wait, what? Where did you get that prototype?

...and yes, I get it, you meant the f/2.8, but that patent points to something very special :-D

interesting, your take. I've read virtually every review of the sigma, and seen every video. Many refer to the wonderful sharpness & contrast. Color is quite subjective, no (?) and highly dependent upon the photo style you select/tweak, as well as PP!

But you have to decide.

In general, i really like the "look" i get from my sigma DG DN lenses, and the 16-28 will be my 9th!

I have the Panasonic but my Sigma lens in this range is the 14–24/2.8. I got the Sigma mainly for astrophoto use, though I have yet to actually use it for that. :-)

Anyway, both are very sharp lenses with the Panasonic being more prone to chromatic aberration than the Sigma. The Pany is always in my bag due to its size and weight.

Not all lenses are created equal. I have also had Sigma 14-24 on L mount and that was excellent. The 24-70 is also a gem as are many primes.

I was not so much wowed by the 28-70 and now the 16-28 (on Sony).
