This whole “China is in lockdown” excuse is wearing a bit thin. I worked for a company who used this incessantly to cover up development shortfalls on new products right up until it going bust at the end of last year.

OMDS need to pull its finger out and get this model to the market PDQ. The success of the Om-1 not withstanding, the OM-5 is THE key product, as it’s probably the first truly OMDS-developed camera and the epitome of the m4/3 system, with its USP of high performance combined with compact size.

OMDS has never said anything about a new camera being released. It is only rumor sites posting rumors. Now if OMDS on their web page had a countdown clock or some other official statement then it gets delayed then you can blame OMDS. Otherwise blame rumor sites.

Happy I went for the OM-1 instead of waiting...

Me too.

I am assuming the rumor sites has got a lot wrong with the few rumor specs they have posted.

That's a shame... Can't blame OMDS indeed, but I was eagerly waiting until October 27th... Who knows, we may still hear positive things though!

Because those OM5 delays would upset me otherwise.

Furthermore, even if this 'delay' were an issue would we rather a camera that was released early with teething problems or wait a while longer and get a camera that was as close to perfect as possible?

Customers tend to be very unforgiving if their wonderful new toy comes with operational 'issues'.

If it's going to be just a re-badged, re-sensored E-M5 as rumours suggest, I'll probably give it a miss. I'm hoping for a "wow" body more like say an OM-P7 or OM PEN-F. I'll be happy to wait for that.

Think you’re taking too seriously rumours from a rumour site with a patchy record…

OMDS have never said anything about when they will be announcing the new camera have they? That is just the rumour site posting clickbait. Historically SEPT/OCT and JAN/FEB are the months that Olympus/OM announced their OM cameras

I understand your sentiment and it may be the same for many who have been waiting for the next iteration of O-MD E-M5 (a.k.a. OM-5).

If I was OMDS, I would be equally worried about getting it right as it could make or break their reputation. Customers will trust, or jump ship, based on this product.

I may be in a different frame of mind because I am not looking to buy something new. For others, who think OM-1 is beyond their budget, and Panasonic cameras are more video-oriented, there is a lot of expectation and impatience with this rumored "OM-5".

It helps to set the expectations right that OM-1 is the flagship and OM-5 will probably not share the same performance specs. And that's OK for those looking to buy something less expensive than OM-1.

It is quite possible that OMDS is not ready to announce that camera, may be not this year, but the rumors have built some expectations and pressure on them. Not sure how they are handling it.
