Whenever I take an acquaintance out to shoot I make sure they turn off all sounds.

That includes cameras and phones/watches.
Wow!
Yep, that was vicious.
Not if you are photographing wildlife and want to remain stealth. Even in the quietest moments, who needs an airhorn...

Pray tell me, what camera, watch, phone has an Air Horn?

Can I bring my truck?

All sounds turned off with everything I have.

There's enough noise around without annoying beeps from cameras.

Even the focal plane shutter noise mildly annoys me but on my E-P5 there's no fully electronic option. If I need quieter for some reason then I get my Sony RX100M6 from its belt pouch.

Now if only I could quieten those voices in my head telling me to.....

Beep

Post end confirmation beep

I leave mine on. It's handy for studio work which is about the only time I use af-s. On the other hand in the real world I tend to use mf in combination with af-c or tracking af-c which means no beep in the first place. So technically I leave it on but never use it, if that makes any sense at all.

I need an air horn. I have an air horn. Kayak photography camping to shoot astro. I carry it in my life vest as my legally required 'sounding device' (a whistle isn't enough for me). It's secondary home is in my tent. I have used it with wild life. Scared off a bear before it could be an issue.

as long as it is IPX6 then it's one less thing to carry. I'm all in on multi use. ;-)

Canon 6D beeps on manual focus as well.

I like it that way.

I usually have it turned off, but if I have a subject who won't stay still, I use it to help the subject focus on the task at hand (pardon the pun). Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It's just another tool. I don't need it for myself.

I do find it annoying when people have them turned on at events and things like that, whether I'm there as a photographer or as a guest.

Back and forth. While I usually do not like nor need it, I turn it on when I shoot planes with RDS. One of my cameras is venerable SX50, with its not-exactly-fast focus and small focussing frame; when I follow the fast moving plane with RDS, looking down for visual confirmation of focus would result in losing my object. Confirmation beep is very convenient then.

I leave mine on as well, since my rig only beeps in AF-S and not C. I only turn it off on rare occasion if I am in a museum or such.

Man, we are living in wonderful times if a beep bothers people that much.

Great, I wish there was a way to double or triple like a post. ;-)

I really love this sound. I would even say this is what made me pick up a camera. True, I was only 8 then and there was no question of at least a little high-quality photographs, but nevertheless, since that time I periodically arrange photo shoots for my friends and slowly even learn something. Recently, a friend of a friend of mine, a local photographer who even took paid courses, appreciated my work. I was just shocked!
