R6 CR3 file naming conventions

Hi everyone, I have an interesting issue which I'm not able to understand/solve by reading the manual and/or browsing.

I have a R6 (1.6.0 FW currently) with default file naming settings, two SD cards - first for JPG, second for CR3 files. When I download all files via EOS Utility (default setting there as well), I'm getting weird file name extensions for all CR3 files, i.e. the file extension is "._CR3" instead of ".CR3". This makes DPP unable to combine JPG+CR3 files of the same shot for initial Thumbnail checking and further image processing.

I could not find any explanation in the official manual. This is NOT an sRGB vs. Adobe Colorspace symptom, as I'm shooting only in sRGB. The preceeding camera FW versions and EOS Utility versions made no difference to this interesting behaviour.

Thx,

Miro.

I am not sure, but in other file transfer progs and downloads, this sometimes means the transfer was not completed. Did you try transfering by other means (wired or with a card reader) to see what results there?

Then compare the file sizes against your EOS files.

Stupid me,

the CR3 file name extension on the SD card is correct, which means the camera is OK. It is the EOS Utility, which does the file name extension change during transfer. I don't understand why, because in the EOS Utility settings under the file name preference it is strictly specified "Do not modify" (this is by default I believe).

Ok, time to further experiments.

What about the file sizes..........? Are the transfered = the SD card size?

Is Adobe RGB activated?

No, Adobe RGB is not activated. It must be something within the EOS Utility, which is responsible for the CR3 file name extension change. I just don't understand why.
