Grii remote control

Does anyone know if there is a phone app (android), that can remotely triger the gr2?
Are you thinking of this? Remote capture

Yes. But I dont seem to get it working. Anyone has experience with it?
Yeah. But I forgot how. The principle is that you have to create wifi link between your camera and your phone. Start wifi on the camera and then connect the phone to it with the passcode.

I can set the wifi, transfer images, view them, even transfer videos but remote control doesn't work. And I have no idea what am doing wrong.
I've used this before. And yet I just tried. I selected shooting, I got 'this function not supported'. Sorry – it's been a long day and I don't fancy trying to work out what's going on. I bet someone here can solve this, just not me at this time.

Does the remote control function work off of wifi or bluetooth? I have an older Android phone and the bluetooth on my phone is not supported by the app, so I had all kinds of problems, too. Bluetooth is buggy because there is no industry standard to my understanding. I'm sure someone else knows more about this than me, though. I'm just going to wait until I upgrade my phone. The app works perfectly well on my wife's new Android phone.

No problem, thanks for the effort. I get the same message.
Ok. Lars. I just checked with my GR3 and this time it worked straight off. My theory is that it no longer works with the GR2?

I just updated my app and same problem. I'm not sure what firmware the gr2 is on now but I'd guess mine is up to date. I suspect that it's a Ricoh bug in the Image Sync App but I have no idea how to report that to Ricoh.

^ it runs in the web browser. So the process is:
  1. Follow the link at the bottom of the above page.
  2. Connect the phone wifi to the camera wifi.
  3. Click the rotate swirl icon top right to connect the app.
  4. Get full access to all functions of the camera except some video functions.
It works really well for me. Better than the imagesync app.

That works. Thanks for the post.

Hey Lars,

Image Sync for the GRII offers simple functions only such as image viewing and transfer.

If you want use the "Remote Capture" function then you have to use the "GR Remote" app.

The GR Remote app is intuitive, well laid out and full featured. I used it all the time with my GRII and it works very well.

This is not correct. Image Sync also offers remote shooting.

@Tungsten

Remote Shooting is not supported by Image Sync for the RICOH GRII. It is supported for GRIII and GRIIIx.

It specifically says in the GRII Manual at the bottom of Page 132
You can perform shooting by operating the communication device using the dedicated application“GR Remote”.
For details on how to use the “GR Remote”, refer to the following site:
