The new Haida CPL/VND filter should be available sometime in July, and the convenience of it appeals to me. Unfortunately, my impression is that it needs to be used without a lens hood, since the lever would get in the way.

Or could the lever be removed and a hood attached? I've seen two reviews and they don't mention this issue,

I think the lever is threaded in most of those types, and you practically need it to control the double rotation.

Often the VNDs are stepped, so a bayonet hood won't fit over them anyway. I don't know how you would use the double rotating CPL/VND with a bayonet hood. There would be two rotating rings.

Check close to see if it's stepped for wide angle. The manufacturers don't always make that clear in the description.

I know that one reviewer said he had no problem above 17mm.
What I mean is it might have a built-in step, so the front thread is bigger than the rear. My bayonet hood won't fit over my VND. Some manufacturers don't tell you what the front thread is.

Many VND aren't even front threaded .

If you want a hood get something that clamps to the lens. Plenty of choices out there but it can end up pretty big.

If anyone is interested, this filter just appeared on the Haidausa.com website. It’s about 2 weeks before they have it to ship.
