Canon vs Nikon Pro Lens Comparison

& where getting the picture is important specially with IS lenses & the quality isn't bad at all, sport phtographers never worry about distortion, flare, etc... I'm not saying that canon aren't good in this area, but that's not an issue for sports

Canon WAS the only IS manufaturer before Nikon came with the VR & that was an issue for sport.

This is a common sight at sporting events. Lots of Canon lenses:

exactly, at best it means canon makes the best lenses for sports
photography.

That is funny! Leon
Leon,
If I used that comparison, it would now be the same as Dodge/Ford
:-).

My family owned 50's and 60's Jags. Reminds me of one of the
astrounauts that had an MG. He said he had a recurring nighmare.
He's strapped in to the capsule and it's T minus 10 seconds and
counting. He makes one last sweep of the gauges and sees a small
plaque for the first time. It says: "Electrics by Lucas".

Slow? How much faster do you need? There are no more coffee breaks,
I've had to batch-process several shoots worth of files just to
have a break to get coffee. And no longer innovative? Gee, let's
see... Much of the video and motion picture industry now uses Final
Cut Pro instead of quarter-million dollar Avid suites. iTunes is
the best player out there for music, and Apple's new music system
will improve that and make it legal for us to download a better
format than MP3 (AAC, the audio compression used in DVDs) of our
favorite music, iMovie is a consumer video editing program with NO
equal in the PC world, iDVD does the same for DVD, new 12" and 17"
Powerbooks with DVD-R built-in and performance to rival any desktop
PC, and interface that is easy to use, stable, and not some
Lego-esque wannabe, and compatibility and ease of use that no PC
will ever know... Shall I go on?
Final Cut Pro? You can't be serious. Please give me a URL about ANY release that was made on FCP. This is probably why Industrial Light & Magic recently replaced their entire company with Pentium4 Xeons.

What makes iTunes the best? What makes iMovie better than anything on the PC? This is just a load of opinions. If all of this was so much better, why do Mac sales decline yearly? Don't even give me the bs about a powerbook outperforming any PC... considering the top of the line dual G4 mac can't even come close to my PC laptop I'm typing this on.
The 1Ds is a he11uva camera, for sure. I'm hoping Nikon comes out,
leapfrog fashion, and offers all that the 1Ds offers and more.
Surely they have something up their sleeve. In the mean time,
revamping lenses and couming out with the higher-resolving DX line
paves the way for higher resolution image sensors.
Sure, I wish Nikon came out with something way earlier. This would be great for the market.. and I wouldn't have had to pay $7500 for my 1Ds.
But in talking to a few pros, Canon build quality is still lower
than Nikon. But that's dependent upon need. Amateurs and most pros
don't beat the bejesus out of their gear like I do, for example. My
D1x would have been in shreds if it'd have been a D100, 10D or
similar, possibly even a 1D, though I think the EOS 1 series are
pretty sturdy. My F2, F4 and other Nikon F-series have all taken a
TON of abuse and never complained, even after having prisms smashed
off. An assistant dropped a 300 out of my bag and it went bouncing
100 feet down a mountain. I espected to see the glass go flying
out. The lens barrel was dented (no more focusing), lens hood was
bent beyond repair, and the mount was chewed. Nikon replaced the
ENTIRE outside of the lens for $200. I thought it was totalled.
Yes, the D1 Nikon line is pretty tough.. but I would be hard pressed to say that they're harder than the EOS 1 series.

OSX is based on unix. Apple scrapped away their entire OS and made OSX. Thats why there are compatibility issues with mac apps made for previous mac OSes.

The ipod is awesome. I wish I have one. Macs are well designed asthetically. They aren't the performance machines that apple makes them out to be... thats all I'm saying.
The truth is, Apple was innovative. But really now they're not.
They're slow and outdated, no matter what they look like
aesthically.
I don't think that is a really good comparison. Apple still is
rather innovative when it comes to their product lines, and
operating system, OS X ring a bell?, or how about the ipod?

People spend too much time debating which is better. Almost as bad
as watching a linux nut talk about why linux is better than
microsoft and vice versa.

............. I told a colleague of mine tonight that I was swapping out my D1x for a 1D and a white lens, he paused, sighed, took a deep breath and said, "you're finally getting a real camera then?"

Eos** means New Dawn, let the show begin ....

It sounds real good until......you read the fine print (so to say) that in case your D1x needs repair, you have to send it back to mamiya to remove and then on to Nikon to repair!
Tony,

I just received an email from Mamiya America in which they state
they now offer an internal PocketWizard for the D1, D1h & D1x. The
antenna attaches to the sync outlet, but the flash shoe remains
functional.
