Right now I am a dual system user adding a Nikon Z9 to use along side my Sony kit.

I have an excellent selection of Sony GM and G lenses that I would like to use (or at least try to use) on my Z9. These are the two adapters I know of and I think the ETZ-22 and TZE-02 are the latest versions from the two suppliers.

Does any one have experience with these (or earlier models) ? I'm sure they are not perfect but would like to better understand the potential limitations. Also wondering if there is an advantage of one brand over the other.

Why am I adapting? Well I bought all the critical Z mount zooms for f/2.8 even though I could have tried to adapt my Sony FE GM zooms but since I know these adapters are thin I didn't want to stress a thin adapter and the Z mount S zooms are also very nice.

For primes on Nikon I only have the Z 50/1.8 S and Z 85/1.8 S but on Sony I have from 14/1,8 GM all the way to 135/1.8 GM and thought I would try to adapt for now.

So if you have any recommendations I'd love to get your input.

Thank you in advance.

Steve

I have a Nikon Z8 and both adapters. The Techart was bought about a year ago (2023) the Megadap bought recently. Neither adapter works properly with the firmware 2.0 of the Nikon Z8. Prior to the firmware 2.0, the Techart adapter would power the Sony 16-35 pz lens properly while the Megadap does not. The Megadap bobbles a bit while attempting focus. The Techart WAS faster and more accurate. The Techart adapter does not fit as perfectly, with some wiggle and it is impossible to take off a Sony lens and leave the adapter on the Nikon body. While the Megadap does offer a better release button for doing this. Final note, NEITHER adapter work properly with the firmware 2.0 of the Z8. Megadap indicated they might have a firmware update in March 2024. Techart has NOT responded to my queries.

While I do not own a Sony PZ lens, I do have a new Megadap ETZ-21 that I have been using with my Z8 and several G and GM lenses, and have found that AF-S, as well as AF-C works as well as can be expeted. My Z8 is running Firmware 2.0. I have not tried the Techart, so I cannot comment in that regard. I have also been using a Fringer EF-Z adapter, and it too performs well in AF-S and AF-C modes with the EF lenses that I own. That said, I have not tested all of the available Sony E mount lenses, nor have I tested all of the Canon EF mount lenses, meaning, some lenses may not fair well with adapters.

"As well as can be expected" Not sure what that means because we may all have very different expectations! I would say the Techart adapter worked better with AF than the Megadap, when it worked. There was no jelly bobble in focus and it would zoom and focus the 16-35mm PZ. I suppose an option is to revert to the earlier firmware for all the difference.
