I've always stored it in the camera bag, but living in a humid area now (average 70% year round), I got a dry cabinet.

So far I'm placing it face down resting on the lens cap, with the A7IV body mounted. My main concern is weight and if this adds too much stress long term to the components.

The whole combo is pretty heavy. The Sony 100-400GM weighs 3 pounds by itself, and the A7iv body adds about 1.5 more pounds. (Yea the camo cover is a mess, just a fabric sleeve isn't fitting well anymore.)

I shoot every day, so I don't like the wear and tear of removing the body every night for storage.

It's perfectly fine like that. You can also put it on its side from time to time just to change things up. No need to take the camera off every time. I've kept my 500mm f4 lying on its side on a piece of carpeting with the camera attached for many years with no issues.

My D850 has the Tamron 150-600 mounted all the time. Only time I take it off is for a wide angle or macro. I leave it in my bag laying down. Humidity in my suite is around 90% and I've never had an issue with mold, fungus, corrosion or fogging. Anything I use on a daily basis seldom goes in my drybox.
